UX Research
Information Synthesis
Since I'm creating this assessment tool for teachers, I reviewed the notes from previous teacher interview, to understand what content they are looking for before an assessment, what they want to do during an assessment and what data they want to see after students finish their assessments.
UX Research
"So what are exactly teacher's needs?"
Teachers want this tool to enhance their workflow and provide a better understanding of their students' academic performance before, during, and after assessments.
Before Assessment
Teachers need a way that covers all aspects from setup to tracking student performance.
Set up classes
Organize assessments
Manage other details
During Assessment
Teachers need to effectively oversee assessments and ensure seamless student access.
Oversee assessment’s status
Track assessment duration
Distribute assessment
After Assessment
Teachers need to analyze test data to provide constructive feedback to students.
View student’s performance
Organize assessments
Share student’s progress
UX Research
Brainstorm
Through several rounds rapid ideation regarding to the teacher needs, we came up with 3 main product features that would solve the problems.
Ideation
Design Tickets
During synchronous work sessions, I liaise with PM to understand requirements, assess available data, and identify cross-functional dependencies for the feature I'm building. This step is crucial for clarifying tasks and addressing consistency issues. We also continuously optimize workload for efficiency. Successfully, I completed 6 tickets .
Ideation
User Flows
After clarifying product features, I review the given research data to empathize with users and understand their product usage. Then, I map out the user flow for each feature, incorporating edge cases that may occur during the flow.
Ideation
Sketches
During the sketching and low-fi phase, I create diverse design versions, share them with the team for feedback, consider cross-functional features, and communicate with developers about technical feasibility.
Ideation
70+ Low-Fi Screens
To see the whole picture I designed user flow where a user starts on the platform then show that use’s forwards movement through different features and screens on the app until they complete a goal, using the established design system.
Ideation
Internal Testing & Critique
Using the Mid-Fi prototypes, I conducted a few internal usability testing with stakeholders in our team, to validate if they can understand my designs and further uncover more design ideas.
UI Design
Color & Typography
Blue is chosen to be the primary color as it matches with Jump Math’s brand identity. The color palette is complemented with other colors like: shades of gray, yellow, etc.
UI Design
20+ New Components
Hi-Fi Prototype
Teacher Dashboard
"Teacher Dashboard" provides an overview of active assessments, classrooms with just a glance. This streamlines the assessment process, enabling teachers to efficiently oversee teaching and evaluation strategies, ultimately leading to improved student outcomes.
Hi-Fi Prototype
Classroom
“Classroom” enables teachers to categorize students into classrooms with specific start and end dates. This allows for efficient management of teaching schedules and monitoring of student progress across multiple classes, helping teachers to identify areas of strength and improvement.
Hi-Fi Prototype
Assessment
“Assessment” allows teachers to preview and distribute available assessments and view assessments data. By providing a centralized location for managing assessments, teachers can easily organize and analyze student performance data, and provide constructive feedback.

And some more…
Hand-off
Hand-off with Developers
To ensure a smooth hand-off process, design hand-off files were made, which includes new/updated components, prototypes, explanations of user flows, interactions, etc. Moreover, edges cases such as blank screens, error screens were designed as well.

Reflection
I had a fantastic experience joining a student-led team and connecting with like minded students who share the same interests in non-profits, digital products and more. It was a fulfilling journey and enriched my studies&life.
Self-initiation drives success.
Owning a product (even part-time) is challenging. Creating the best product demands myself to collaborate, communicate, and seek help.
Make decisions by myself.
Without mentor's guidance, making independent design decisions demands a thorough understanding of the product, the users we are designing for.
Make my design persuasive.
During design demos, I encounter challenges with stakeholders who hold varying opinions, so I must justify and advocate my designs to align our vision.
